The story

Amaya Healing Est. 2021

Being a mother is my life purpose and passion so whilst thinking of a name for my new venture it was imperative that I included something that was representative of both my children.

After months and months of relentless wordplay and online searches, I gave up the thankless task. And then, just like that ... I came across Amāya! I can't even remember exactly how, but this was it! 'Amaya Healing' was born.

In Sanskrit, the feminine word 'Amāya' means guileless, not cunning, honest or free from deceit. It is the absence of delusion. Amāya is not deceiving, is open and honest. In Arabic, Amāya means the "night rain"

Not only did the meaning sit right with me it included both my daughter's name 'Maya' and the first letter of my son 'Ashish'.

My aim is to share the benefits of  Holistic well-being by reaching out to as many people as possible so that everyone can experience the power of a touch, the importance of self-care and relaxation and most importantly the impact these therapies can have on our daily lives.

A bit about me...

As far back as my memory recalls, I have been an unofficial wellness aficionado and extremely passionate about all things natural and holistic!

I studied Ayurvedic Massage in Bangalore in 2013 to finally begin to feed this curiosity and to better understand nature's way. This was enough to whet my appetite however it took me 6 years to finally embark on a more serious journey in which I began studies for a Level 3 Diploma in Complementary Therapies qualifying in 2021.

Using the power of touch, coupled with carefully selected oils and balms I am on a quest to share the magic and beauty of all things natural (or as close as possible to!) and how magnificent and necessary Holistic therapy is for one's physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

Aside from the Holistic realm, I love cooking and feeding (nourishing),  gardening (nurturing) and creating (experimenting) be it making my own face masks using kitchen cupboard ingredients, blending oils for facial massage or fine-tuning recipes combining oils to help with pain relief! Everything is intertwined ...

The Edge...

In a world where we are constantly drawn to adjectives such as express, prime, next day, instant, fast track, etc it can be challenging to explain the hows and why's of what you do.

I remember being told by one of my teachers that what I have been learning in class is just the beginning. Never have words resonated with me so well. Given any opportunity, I am watching online tutorials, reading journals, enrolling in new courses, and delving deeper into effective new techniques and methods so that I can better my client's experience.

As a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) and the Association of Reflexologists  (AoR), both highly reputable associations, I am also kept up to date on industry news, best practices and protocols.

However, my belief has always been to use products that are kind to the environment as well as to our skin so I have chosen to use vegan skincare products and ethically sourced and produced essential oils. The Ayurvedic blends  I use are also from an authentic Oushadhasala (pharmacy) based in India, headquartered in Bangalore.

As I say to all my clients.... I am guided by my hands and work with my intuition to serve you to the best of my ability to ensure you leave my therapy room feeling rested, re-energised, and uplifted.

If you have any doubts about Holistic therapies and the power of touch my advice to you would be just to book in for a treatment and then decide. I am also more than happy to offer a FREE telephone consultation to discuss which therapy would be best for your wellbeing.
